Blooming Branch Group

At Blooming Branch Group, we guide both emerging leaders and established executives to expand their capacity for impact. Together we explore what matters most — what creates meaning, where development is needed, and how new possibilities can be pursued with courage and intention. Our purpose is to help clients uncover their strengths, navigate transition, and lead with authenticity in complex and changing environments.
At Blooming Branch, we believe that strong leadership transforms not just organizations but the people within them — and that development is a deliberate, ongoing journey. Whether working with organization-wide initiatives or one-on-one coaching clients, we are committed to empowering leadership that is authentic, results-oriented, and grounded in purpose.

As a chief executive and scholar, I've both studied and practiced leadership for over 20 years. My 12 years as a West Point professor deeply shaped my leadership philosophy, and now I'd like to help you!

Paraphrasing Bert Hellinger's work on family black sheep, good leaders work with others to bring positive change, creating "a new and blooming branch" from toxic systems. At Blooming Branch Group, we believe that authentic, developmental and caring leaders not only get results, but also bring positivity to others and the world.
Blooming Branch's coaches are certified by, or are in training to be certified by, the International Coaching Federation. Certified coaches are committed to excellence, ethical practice and lifelong learning. They have proven their understanding of the fundamentals of coaching, including the ICF Core Competencies and the ICF Code of Ethics. Whether you use Blooming Branch or not, make sure your coach is ICF certified.
Thanks to this training, Blooming Branch coaches can coach anyone. However, they also have special expertise coaching executive leaders and in higher education spaces.
Executive coaching is a confidential partnership with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. Coaches honor the client as an expert in their life and work and believe that every client is creative, resourceful and whole. I am not here to give advice or offer solutions, but rather to help you solve your own challenges or goals.
In your coaching session you can expect to be seen and heard in an authentic conversation about what's really going on. Your coach will help you develop your own critical thinking and problem-solving capacity through a series of powerful questions. You will not receive explicit advice, although you might be challenged to envision new perspectives. Ultimately, however, you are the expert in your lived experience; neuroscience shows that individuals are more motivated to execute on ideas they have generated for themselves.
You'll get the most out of your coaching session if you bring a specific topic (Issue, Challenge, Vision, Goal) A good Coaching Topic is something personal or professional that is current, unresolved and important to you. It is something that you are unable to resolve for yourself.
Issue: “I want to transition out from my current role”
Challenge: “I feel like my team doesn’t listen to me”
Vision: “I need to develop a vision for my team”
Goal: “I want more work/life balance”
Other example topics include:
● A challenging relationship / interaction that is going on in your work environment that you want to improve or enhance.
● A difficult conversation that needs to happen
● Leading change
● Developing members on your team
● Innovation
● Managing transition
● Managing up
● More productive meetings
● Giving presentations
● Retirement
● Personal challenge/goal
On Donna Carlson's The Whole CXO podcast, L. Lynn Vidler tells the story of their roots as a performer and their leadership journey through academia to lead one of the biggest schools in Colorado.

Leadership isn’t a role—it’s a thing you do when the challenge is too big to face alone.
What happens when a former ballet dancer, West Point professor, and nonbinary academic challenges the way we think about leadership? In this episode, Lynn Vidler discusses the failures of higher education’s leadership pipeline, the transformative power of authenticity, and what it means to lead with empathy in a world shaped by systemic expectations. With humor and insight, Lynn reflects on the harm of abusive leadership, the healing found in self-awareness, and their mission to reshape leadership culture in academia.
